Every year, families embark on walking between the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala to mark Arbaeen, 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS).

The Arbaeen pilgrimage is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. This year Arbaeen falls on September 17.
